Music is and always has been very important to me. Sometimes it’s simply a musical style that I like, though other times, I find that I can identify with lyrics or moods that are created through different songs. I’ve spent lots of time and money on music over the years, and I don’t imagine I’ll ever stop. I can hear a song on the radio and be instantly transported back to a specific moment in time. Certain songs can still bring me to tears, or cause me to break out into fits of giggles. For me, music is part of the magic of living a full life, even if regularly attending shows means that I may very well be deaf before I get old.

Things I’ve yet to get sick of:

Underworld – I give credit to my friends Michelle and Steve for really turning me on to this band and showing me that there was life beyond Born Slippy.nuxx. Underworld’s music has become the soundtrack of my goofy life. Cowgirl has helped celebrate ecstatic new experiences, and can lift me out of depression. Pearl’s Girl has this one sound/rhythm/riff/thing that gives me shivers. Jumbo has some really gorgeous moods and just plain kick ass music. I will forever picture Karl Hyde’s blissed out expression and his totally funky dancing when he sang Jumbo in Detroit.

Duran Duran – What kind of Durannie would I be if I neglected to mention my all-time favorite band? Even fifteen years later, Rio is still one of the best albums, ever. I absolutely adore the track Hold Back the Rain and make a point of listening to it very loudly.
